AMOUR FOU is an Avangarde-Chanson-Show. Through the electrifying sound fields of Pop, Oriental and Experimental, Scharmien Zandi explores social issues: equality, feminism, freedom, individualism, racism, and sexism.
AMOUR FOU brings this vulnerability of exploration to a climax that seduces and the public, with the artist acting as the defendant, the judge and the hangman simultaneously. The combination of piano and the holistic voice of Scharmien Zandi results in the whole show emulating a chanson character with a different style of sound. Her expressed point of view is full of humor, melancholy, critic, and irony.
These topics take place on a global scale. AMOUR FOU has played in Beijing (CN) at DDC Club, in Vienna at the RRRiot Festival (AT) and at the Pfinxtn Festival (AT) where Scharmien Zandi shared the stage with Austrian stars like Paul Gulda, Michael Köhlmeier, and Shira Karun.
After Asia and Europe, America should get a taste of AMOUR FOU. The production of the Album is currently ongoing with a varity of famous musician from oriental, electronic and jazz like Sakina Teyna (Dengbej), Oscar Antoly (Clarinette), Markus Pechmann (Trompet) and Carmen Rosenkranz (E-Violin, Soundscape).
As a transdisciplinary artist, musician and performer, Scharmien Zandi works with a variety of techniques and methods to create contemporary stage works, sound design and film art. Her artistic work and research are based on two principles: body(-sound), geometry / dynamics and space.
Scharmien Zandi’s work includes fine arts, performing arts and music. In 2017 she received an Artist Residency from the culture ministery of Beijing where she started her international art project “DIONE”, a contemporary opera. She works as a composer for theater (Fu Long Theater Beijing, Theater Ensemble Delphin Vienna). Her sound-installation for the Red Gate Gallery in Beijing, at the 798 Art Zone, had elements of AMOUR FOU where she worked in collaboration with the Volkstheater in Vienna, Austria.
